currently sitting at around 1.1-1.2m gp on my toons, a bunch in my mailbox (i like to clear sold auctions at the end the day), and 3 sky golems to sell. Not to mention i've bought myself a token, and given my brother 2 (he agreed to buy bfa for me vs 3 tokens), as well as blowing 250k on mythic boosts. I knwo others have done way better (hell i knew a guy that had made 4m in like 3 days during the DMC boom) but i'm pretty happy with it
Meanwhile, on the island continents introduced in the Battle for Azeroth expansion, players level 110 and above who have unlocked world quests can participate in Faction Assaults. These special events, alternating between Alliance and Horde territory, will give each faction a chance to band together to defend their territory or invade their enemy’s via a series of world quests. The prize? Survival! Also faction, gear and gold. Maybe even some pride.

EXPLORE TWO FABLED KINGDOMS – As a champion of the Horde, travel to Zandalar to persuade the trolls to lend their naval might to the war effort. As a defender of the Alliance, sail to the seafaring kingdom of Kul Tiras, home of Jaina Proudmoore, and rally its inhabitants to fight for your cause. When you launch the game you can choose from two opposite factions (Alliance and Horde), 7 different races for each factions and 6 different classes with very wide mixture of the character's appearance. World of Warcraft play involves the completion of quests while traveling through the story line, gaining experience from the quests to level up the characters and picking up the useful loot to trade with other players. Once a player feel strong enough, or simply just wishes to find some better items, players can visit dungeons where a group can fight together to get better loot from stronger monsters. Near end-game the biggest dungeons require a raid with up to forty players to face and accomplish the hardest challenges for the most valuable items. Another big part of the game is the Player vs Player (PvP) fights where gamers can play againts each other in 2vs2, 3vs3 arenas or battlegrounds for PvP rewards.

But then you have some professions, Inscription, Jewelcrafting, the gathering professions, etc. which don't seem to have any specific extra bonuses for being them. Inscription has been in a bad place for a while and that trend seems to be continuing in BfA, although considering we are not locked to certain glyphs anymore (like having to choose between only one glyph of many for things like Travel Form) I suppose there's a chance we will see some more profitability out of it.

Professions skills are split between expansions now, you'll have a separate skill bar for each expansion. This means you can level the new Battle for Azeroth skill tier without putting any point into any of the previous expansions tiers, you don't have to level Leatherworking with older materials to be able to craft the new BfA items. Gold-making blog Just My Two Copper suggests that enchanting will be quite the money making profession during the initial phase of Patch 5.3. This is because with players racking up new shield heirloom items and new PvP weapons and cloaks, and the tendency of PvP fans to max out every potential stat in their gear to win their matches, they will spend a pretty penny on Enchanting boosts. Just My Two Copper expects direct enchanting fees as well as the costs of Enchanting materials to rise during the start of the patch.

-Island Expeditions- Island expeditions was one of the new features I was looking forward to but Blizzard no longer makes games that are ready when they are ready but rather makes games ready when the deadline comes. Thus, many of the new features are completely stripped down from what was expected and it's literally just a small scenario you enter with two other players to continue to grind out your Azerite neck piece.

I'd like to add my personal experience as of a week ago in regards to illusions: I bought all of them for 10 silver being the highest bidder. They sell for 2-4k each usually, but it's a very slow market with little interest. They might be a nice addition to your portfolio if you can get the mats with little effort, otherwise it's not enough to warrant investing in it. At least on my server.
It is really, really a stark change of pace from WoD and Legion where just questing and killing things would result in at least a small but decent profit from a day's activities, typically of at least 1k and often 2k. But now to get that sort of return, I have to really focus on gold WQ's, not spend any money on anything that I don't absolutely have to, and do 45 minutes of Legion content.
The best way to collect AP is through world quests, a system that allows players to complete menial tasks to earn moderate rewards. A finite amount of AP spawns on the map through these quests — generally at least 2,000 a day. I’ve likely done most of these quests close to 20 times in the course of preparing my various characters in the 45 days since the expansion launched. In some cases, I’ve replayed them as many as 50 times.
This expansion suffers from the Warlords of Draenor (WoD) effect, initially, players will think this is a great expansion but upon investing some time into the game they'll realize this game is a disaster. The pre-patch should have been our first warning with how poorly designed and executed that fiasco was, but beyond that, let's look at what the expansion itself offers:
If you're a new player and buying gold (for some startup money) isn't an option, there's nothing wrong with gathering (especially if you're getting BfA...it'll be good gold initially if you farm BfA mats and sell high). You can make pretty good money just flipping stuff...and because Legion items are super risky now, it's a good time to get spirits of harmony (just buy what you can and sell it in in bigger stacks at higher costs or turn it into ore/bars or lotus to sell when that is profitable). I'd avoid putting all of your gold there though. Sometimes a bot or just someone returning to the game will dump 10+ stacks of 200 spirits cheap and tanks the markets for a bit. Flipping (if you get good at it) will make you more gold in than long run than farming but if you don't have much gold either is a step forward from here. They key to making gold is having the flexibility to lock up most of your gold in items and wait patiently to sell them at a good price but you gotta start small (or cheat like me...when I came back in December I just spent $100 on tokens and haven't spent money on anything other than the Collector's edition since. It's a lot easier to make gold if you already have some.
