As for the classes themselves, they almost all play like slower and slightly less interesting versions of their Legion counterparts. This is thanks in large part to the loss of one ability from each class that came along with Legion’s own AP dumping system: the artifact weapon, which added a unique ability to every spec in the game. The loss of these abilities left most classes feeling frustrating and incomplete, and though Azerite gear was supposed to be the replacement, it missed the mark completely. There will always be one Azerite trait that reigns supreme for each spec, meaning that the frustration of that particular loop will be unavoidable as long as the system is in the game.

It is really, really a stark change of pace from WoD and Legion where just questing and killing things would result in at least a small but decent profit from a day's activities, typically of at least 1k and often 2k. But now to get that sort of return, I have to really focus on gold WQ's, not spend any money on anything that I don't absolutely have to, and do 45 minutes of Legion content.

Conclusion - Overall, I am looking forward to BfA but I do have my concerns. The mid and high level rare mats look like they are going to come from Mythic Dungeons and Raids. This could make it so that crafting alts basically need to be end game geared up characters and doing that content in order to produce anything usable. Gathering will work and I think it makes sense to prioritize that at the beginning of the xpac. The rest I am taking a wait and see approach this time around. There still is plenty of time between now and launch for the devs to make drastic changes to the material requirements and item level of any crafted item or consumable. Therefore, I don’t think we can call anything a real “winner” or “loser” yet. What do you think?
WOTLK and Cata were my goblin training grounds as well (I remember fondly making 30k on a single day after a patch day with Inscription), but since Im only at Legion levels, Im struggling to find oportunities where to start invest and make profit. I've been carefully paying attention to the market and picking small batches of mats to flip. After 6 yrs out im slowly starting to pick up (so far i think i made 100k in a couple of months).
The Alliance are able to unlock the void elves (exiled blood elves who can tap into shadow magic, trained by Alleria Windrunner after her experiences on Argus), Lightforged draenei (draenei members of the Army of the Light who fought the Legion on Argus), Dark Iron dwarves (fire-blooded cousins of the in-game dwarves of Ironforge), and Kul Tiran humans (larger, more heavyset versions of the in-game humans of Stormwind).

So much new stuff. The war questline expands. Island expeditions get a couple of new locations to explore. Azerite armor gets tweaked so it’s slightly less stupid than it already is. While we wait for the servers to go back up, Blizzard’s prepared a handy survival guide for Tides of Vengeance. I suggest looking it over, or else risk not surviving at all.

Valid pieces for Azerite empowerment are available for the chest, shoulder, and head slots of all classes. This equipment has multiple tiers of that can be unlocked, represented by a series of concentric wheels with icons representing individual powers; as individual powers are selected, they rotate into slots at the top of the interface, activating the selected benefit and locking out the others unless the player pays to reset their decision. Outer rings offer multiple choices, some based around the character's class and specification, others around the zone or circumstances in which the gear was acquired. The innermost circle offers no such options, instead being a boost to the level of the item itself, and thus providing a flat all-around benefit.
I have probably said this exact same thing a dozen times but it's worth saying a dozen more. Old world engineering is awesome right now. I make enough for my monthly token and then some simply buy selling auto hammers, gunshoes, and 1 sky golem. 100% of mats purchased from auction house. It's the easiest, laziest way I have ever made gold and i love it.
Everything you say tells me that you don't make and haven't tried to make Sky Golems for goldmaking. Time Consuming craft? It takes me 20 minutes per day to log in on 5 alts and produce jards. I might farm SoH, but that's a great Gold vs time spent farm. 20 minutes equals 10 SoH, 6-8 GI Lockboxes, and a ton of BoEs which I mostly vendor. So all in all 20 minutes of farming is about 10k gold. As someone that doesn't have that much time to play but still wants to pay his sub with gold Sky Golems are the only way to go. I'm in plenty of other markets, but SGs sell within 3 days for the best profit.
Like I said, engineering is the best when you aren't worried about making gold. The Loot-a-rang is super useful, nitro-boosts are nice when they don't fail, and the glider cape enchant is nice too... you get wormholes to Pandaria, Draenor (make sure you have a glider), Legion, and Argus (as well as a couple old world teleport locations)...Jeeves (and to a lesser extent Reeves) and MOLL-E are also super useful (bank and mail access anywhere, repairs, etc.).
Despite all of these problems and this laundry list of glaring systematic issues, the crowning achievement of Battle for Azeroth’s endgame is that it still remains enjoyable all due to those two pillars of raiding and dungeons. That won’t last forever. As the expansion goes on, and the grind necessary to progress becomes even more demanding and the time spent in content that simply isn’t fun increases, it will be harder and harder for raiding and Mythic+ to carry the expansion along.
They already are with the leveling changes and Blizz fucking up the API. AH focused players have been flying blind the last few weeks without API, as well as the re-introduction of unobtainable items that are now back in the game, as well as the enchanting changes (Dusts got squished already). Some of them are waiting it out, others are just doing their normal thing.
If you're a new player and buying gold (for some startup money) isn't an option, there's nothing wrong with gathering (especially if you're getting BfA...it'll be good gold initially if you farm BfA mats and sell high). You can make pretty good money just flipping stuff...and because Legion items are super risky now, it's a good time to get spirits of harmony (just buy what you can and sell it in in bigger stacks at higher costs or turn it into ore/bars or lotus to sell when that is profitable). I'd avoid putting all of your gold there though. Sometimes a bot or just someone returning to the game will dump 10+ stacks of 200 spirits cheap and tanks the markets for a bit. Flipping (if you get good at it) will make you more gold in than long run than farming but if you don't have much gold either is a step forward from here. They key to making gold is having the flexibility to lock up most of your gold in items and wait patiently to sell them at a good price but you gotta start small (or cheat like me...when I came back in December I just spent $100 on tokens and haven't spent money on anything other than the Collector's edition since. It's a lot easier to make gold if you already have some.
