Injury concerns Kyle Walker and James Maddison took part in England's first training session in Qatar on Wednesday ahead of the World Cup final.

Walker has not played since undergoing groin surgery after being injured in Manchester City's 6–3 Premier League win over Manchester United on 2 October.

Maddison, meanwhile, limped off in the first half of Leicester's win over West Ham on Saturday because of a right knee problem.

They were both training for the World Cup at the Al Wakrah Sports Complex, close to the hotel base of the England team.

Madison said she had a "positive scan" and was not concerned. He said: "A week before the West Ham match, I had a bit of a problem.

Maddison has made only one appearance for England in 2019, coming on as a substitute in a European Championship qualifier against Montenegro.

One thing I've always said during my time away is that the one thing I can control is my form and what I do at Leicester.

This is what I am in control of and the rest, I have always said, will take care of itself, leaving the decision to the England manager to pick me.

Thankfully my form has been very good and people are talking. It's all noise, I tried to stay focused.

My best chance of getting selected was to stay focused on what I could do at Leicester and it has all worked out because I am where I am.
